Al-Falaah School Organises Story-Telling and Speech Competition

Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam - Al-Falaah School organised the final of Trilingual Languages (Malays, English, Arabic) and English Language Story-Telling and Speech competition, which was held at Al-Falaah School in Taman Manggis Manis yesterday.

The competition was divided into three categories. Category A for KG3 pupils aged five and Categories B and C for Year One and Year Five pupils respectively, aged six to 11.

The guest of honour was Cikgu Mohammad Shah bin Idaris, as representative of Cikgu Dyg Hjh Seroja, Acting Senior Special Duties Officer cum Head of Private Sector Education Section, Ministry of Education.

According to senior teacher ofAl-Falaah School, Cikgu Mazni Yusoff, the competition was part of the school annual activity, which aims to encourage and promote the reading habit among children and at the same time to practise and expose them to be courageous in speaking in front of the public.

She said the event also to further enhance and foster closer relationship between school teachers and parents.

In Category A (KG3)Norafifah Rasyiqah binti Md Sofian emerged as the winner in English Language Story-Telling competition, after collecting 90 points with her story entitled 'The Milkmaid and Her Jug of Milk'. Meanwhile the second place went to Hanan Sanaaul Huda binti Hj Md Yunus (88.5 points) with her story, 'The Tiger and the Rooster', while third place with 78.5 points went to Norafifahrasyidah binti Md Sofian's 'The Frogs and the Well'.

As for Category B (Year One and Two) English Language Speech competition, the first place went to Muhammad Afiq Halifi bin Hj Mashusaini (70 points), while second place went to Md Syahiran bin Abdullah Md Siahminan (67 points) and third place went to Nurin Yasmin binti Yusri (64.5 points).

In Category C (Year Three, Four and Five) English Language Speech competition, first place went to Ammar HassanAgha (84 points) and second place went to Siti Nur Arinah bte Saiful Azmi (77 points).

The competition acted as a platform for participating students to showcase their potential and skills especially in front of their respective teachers, classmates and parents.

There was also a Nasyid performance by Ban Five pupils.

The winners then received their prizes presented by the guest of honour, Cikgu Mohammad Shah.

Also present to witness the final competition was the Principal ofAl-Falaah School, Ustaz Syed Hamid bin Syed Ibrahim Al-Tahir.
